Long court, Short court?

Postby Tamara on Sun Apr 05, 2009 1:14 pm

I was under the impression that the serve was always good if it touches the net… ???
Then I read something else I didn’t know:

• LONG COURT - The ball may touch the net while crossing the net,
except during the service. A serve that touches the net is a fault.

• SHORT COURT - The ball may touch the net while crossing the net
during the serve.

Can anybody clear this up for me??

Short court, net serves are the rule as dictated by the FIVB. In a traditional long court game played using "old school rules", the net serve is a fault.
In a sanctioned CBVA event, net serves are playable. mhullo :ugeek:
