Illegal contact

What is considered an illegal contact in beach volleyball?? My question is especially geared toward the serve receive and lifts.

The beach game has YET to become corrupted the same way that the indoor game has allowed almost ANYTHING GOES on the first contact.
With the exception of a "hard driven" ball, the first contact must be clean and there is no room for any double contact. When receiving serve your hands must be together and remain that way till after the ball has left your hands. If you put your hands above you head to pass that deep serve... be aware that you contact is likely to bring a closer "eye". You can practice that skill of taking a ball above your shoulders with interlocked hands in warm ups.
A hard driven ball is a ball that is attacked with a trajectory that takes it from above net to the court. If the ball's course is changed or slowed down by hitting the tape, old school logic sez, "It ain't hard driven anymore". The hard driven ball can be handled with a double contact and redirected to your partner.
In any sanctioned tournament it is the ref who makes the FINAL determination if a ball is mishandled. In a pick up game "Keep Playing" and talk about it after the play is over. mhullo :ugeek:

A player may touch the ball with any part of the body. The ball must be contacted cleanly and not held (including lifted, pushed, caught, carried or thrown). The ball can not roll or come to rest on any part of a player’s body. Also The serve cant be received open handed (i.e. Setting)
