I'm new to the city and was wondering if there are regular groups of people meeting for beach volleyball. If you have any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Sage

Hi Sage,

I'm also new to SF but have heard there is grass volleyball at Crissy Field and Golden Gate Park and some sand volleyball at Ocean Beach. Santa Cruz is a little over an hour away and has lots of sand courts near the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

It is a start. Maybe others could chime in too.

There is a really nice beach court near the cal train station, on berry st. I play with a few guys there from time to time. I believe they have leagues (4x4) or (6x6) on the weekends but that's not really my deal. If you want some good beach comp you need to go to Santa Cruz.

Are any of these games still going on? :?: I'm new to the area also and am a little out of practice, but dying to start playing. I'm in Alameda and would like to start informal games on the beach here, but I would also like to play in SF or Santa Cruz if there are ongoing informal games.

Thanks!
Amy

I know there is a court (sand) under highway 280 in San Francisco. The group that plays there at times play at Montara Beach located 6 or 7 miles nort of Half Moon Bay. They play during the week during the summer & on weekends all year; weather permitting....
